Form 8949 preview
review with a tax pro. These letters are the 2025 digital-asset boxes. Confirm the form year before you rely on them.
Add a row for each sale. The holding-period rule picks short-term or long-term. The default box is I for short-term and L for long-term, which is the 2025 checkbox when no 1099-DA reported the sale. You can choose G, H, or I for a short-term row, and J, K, or L for a long-term row. A letter from the other term is ignored. Unchecked rows stay on the page and stay out of the Schedule D total.
BasisFix has not read a 2026 Form 8949. Boxes A through F are not written. Print uses the browser print dialog. Rows you save stay in this browser for the Schedule D page. Nothing is uploaded.
FAQ
Which box is the default?
Box I when the sale is short-term, and box L when it is long-term. That is the 2025 choice for a digital asset with no 1099-DA.
Can I pick a long-term letter for a short-term sale?
No. G, H, and I are short-term. J, K, and L are long-term. A mismatch falls back to I or L.
Does an excluded row change line 16?
No. Only included rows with dates and amounts are in the Schedule D sum.
