DCA and average-cost calculator

review with a tax pro. The average is a planning figure. It is not what this worksheet files for bitcoin.

Average-cost basis under the Code is for mutual-fund shares and certain stock. Do not file that average as the basis of bitcoin. This page shows the average next to FIFO so you can see the difference. FIFO sells the earliest dated buy first. If a date is missing, it sells the top row first.

Example, fictional: buy 0.1 BTC for $2,000 and 0.1 BTC for $6,000. The average is $40,000 per bitcoin. Sell 0.1 BTC for $7,000. The average-cost gain is $3,000. The FIFO gain is $5,000, because the older lot cost $2,000.
